Today, BET+ debuted the new dramedy “Caught Up” starring comedian and actress Jasmin Brown. All episodes available to stream starting today August 24th.
“Caught Up” focuses on a beautiful, spicy, ambitious young lady named Jazzy (Jasmin Brown) who, like most women in their twenties, wants it all – the career, the home, the husband. Growing up, having witnessed her parents’ playful and loving marriage, she always thought she would never settle for less than she deserved.
Enter Wayne, a handsome, successful, thoughtful, and spontaneous, he sweeps Jazzy off her feet almost instantly. But after spending a year building their perfect partnership, she finds out that Wayne has been unfaithful…to his longtime girlfriend-turned-fiancée.
Navigating the expectations of her traditional Caribbean parents, her only confidant is her untraditional jailbird cousin, Toya. Now, Jazzy has to decide: “Is sharing really settling, if you’ve found the love of your life?”
Meet the Cast
Jasmin Brown as “Jazzy”: Beautiful, comical, nurturing but fun bottle girl who’s living at home with her parents. She’s diligently stacking money to build a life of her own. When Jazzy meets Wayne, even though he checks all her boxes, he’s everything her parents said to stay away from.
Duby Maduegunam as “Wayne”: Strikingly handsome and a real charmer, he is a nationally ranked football player. Wayne is Jazzy’s rich, generous, sexy, very romantic boyfriend. He’s also married, with a three-year-old son. He was brought up in the projects by his grandmother who instilled in him the importance of doing well in every aspect of life.
Alexis Santiago as “Christina”: She is a bottle waitress at the club, helping cinch Brenda into her corset. Christina and Brenda are Jazzy’s closest friends at the club.
Brittney Clemons as “Brenda”: She is another one of Jazzy’s close friends and bottle waitresses at the nightclub. Brenda, who grew up with three brothers, doesn’t take crap from anybody.
Jazmine Robinson as “Ashley”: Ashley is an entitled trust fund baby, working at the club to meet men. She’s also super nosy, always up in Jazzy’s business.
Avis-Marie Barnes as “Louise”: She is Jazzy’s very religious Caribbean mother, always reading her Bible or watching a pastor on TV. A good woman who clearly rules the roost at home (where Jazzy still lives), Louise is all about doing God’s will, but she does have a very practical side.
E. Lloyd Napier as “Fayard”: Jazzy’s Caribbean father, not quite as religious as his wife but with a dramatic side. He’s the kind of man who speaks his mind, even if it can sound a bit judgmental. He’s not feeling very appreciated at his place of work and gets very vocal about that.
Jasmin Brown as “Toya”: This is Jazzy’s cousin (also played by Jasmin), currently serving her last eight days behind bars as an inmate. Spirited and intense, looking to party and shop once she’s paroled, Toya is excited to learn that Jazzy has her very own house, never mind that her married boyfriend bought it for her. In fact, she wants to know if Wayne has a friend.
Mac Wells as “Dooley”: Black, early 30s, he is Wayne’s cousin and right-hand man. He seeks out Jazzy on Wayne’s behalf, hoping they can book her as their waitress when they return to the club
