‘SWV & Xscape: The Queens of R&B’ Premiering Sunday | Meet The Cast

“SWV & Xscape: Queens of R&B” premieres this Sunday March 5th, at 9:30 p.m. ET on Bravo.

Multiplatinum R&B trio SWV (Sisters With Voices), featuring Cheryl “Coko” Gamble, Tamara “Taj” George and Leanne “Lelee” Lyons, has sold more than 30 million records worldwide and been nominated for three Grammy Awards.

Mega-successful R&B quartet XSCAPE, featuring Kandi Burruss, Tameka “Tiny” Harris, and siblings LaTocha Scott-Bivens and Tamika Scott, has sold more than 9 million records worldwide and notched six top-10 songs hitting the Billboard 100.

This six-part limited series puts fans in a VIP front-row seat and offers backstage access to ’90s nostalgia as SWV and XSCAPE pull back the curtain on their personal and professional lives and prepare to hit the stage together.

For more than three decades, SWV and XSCAPE have reigned supreme with chart-topping hits, showstopping performances, sold-out tours and epic breakups. Although both groups are undisputedly talented and the competition is friendly, the fan-fueled rivalry between the New York new jack swinging trio and the Atlanta hip-hop soul quartet has always been as legendary as the bands themselves.

Now, as they come together for a spectacular one-night-only concert event, these seven powerful voices must juggle family and career commitments while learning to collaborate with their fiercest competitors. The ladies will take viewers on the ultimate fan experience as they reveal the inner workings of putting on a live concert and expose the discord and complex dynamics of sisterhood within singing groups — such as the bombshell revelation of the Scott sisters’ dark secret, which threatens to tear their family apart and drive a wedge between XSCAPE. From wars about set design and setlists, to epic battles over which group should headline, these women don’t hold back. Each episode will capture the highs and lows of their journey as they race against a ticking clock to create a career-reigniting concert.

But can these strong-willed songstresses ever reach an accord? Not before sharing their most vulnerable moments and venturing beyond business to try healing the personal hurts that stand in the way of their futures.

Meet The Cast of “SWV & Xscape: The Queens of R&B!”

Cheryl Coko Gamble
Sultry songstress Cheryl “Coko” Gamble has been wowing audiences with her distinctive tone and vocal ability since age 3 when she began singing with Hezekiah Walker’s Love Fellowship Crusade Choir. She’s best known as the lead singer of legendary R&B trio SWV (Sisters With Voices), recognized by Billboard as one of the Top 40 female girl groups of all time. Hailing from New York, Coko came together with Tamara “Taj” Johnson and Leanne “Lelee” Lyons in the late ’80s and quickly rose to fame in 1992 with their hit R&B album “It’s About Time.” The acclaimed debut album sold 3 million copies and earned 11 Billboard Music Award nominations as well as nominations for a Grammy, American Music Award, Source Award, Children’s Choice Award and BET Best of Video Soul Award.

Outside of SWV, Coko lent her talents to Will Smith’s Grammy Award-winning single “Men in Black.” She released a solo R&B album in 1999 followed by gospel album in 2006, which debuted at #5 on Billboard’s Top Independent albums chart. Coko has two sons, rapper/singer Lil Tracy and Jalen. After witnessing Jalen’s distress at being bullied online after coming out, Coko has become a staunch LGBTQIA ally and is an advocate for those suffering with their mental health.

Kandi Burruss Tucker
Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter, actor, producer, restauranteur and “Real Housewives of Atlanta” fan-favorite Kandi Burruss Tucker is one-fourth of the prolific R&B quartet Xscape. Kandi formed Xscape with high school friends Tameka “Tiny” Harris, LaTocha Scott and Tamika Scott in 1993 as they exploded onto the Atlanta scene. Their meteoric rise yielded six consecutive top 10 hits and three platinum albums. Xscape disbanded in 1999 but came back together in 2017 to perform at the BET Awards. After witnessing the fan fervor for Xscape in 2017, the group hit the road again and chronicled their reunion on the hit Bravo docuseries “Xscape: Still Kickin’ It.”

Kandi is married to husband and business partner Todd Tucker and they have four children – Riley, Ace, Blaze and Kaela. Never one to slow down, she is currently juggling her wide array of business ventures – Kandi Koated Entertainment, Bedroom Kandi, Kandi Koated Cosmetics and her Atlanta restaurants, Old Lady Gang and Blaze Steak and Seafood. Kandi is a series regular on “The Chi,” has appeared on “Celebrity Big Brother” and won “The Masked Singer.” She is also the first African-American woman to win the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers Songwriter of the Year Award.

LaTocha Scott
With a gifted voice deeply rooted in gospel music, LaTocha Scott is one-fourth of the prolific R&B quartet Xscape. LaTocha formed Xscape with her sister, Tamika Scott, and high school friends Tameka “Tiny” Harris and Kandi Burruss Tucker in 1993 as they exploded onto the Atlanta scene. Their meteoric rise yielded six consecutive top 10 hits and three platinum albums. Xscape disbanded in 1999 but came back together in 2017 to perform at the BET Awards. After witnessing the fan fervor for Xscape in 2017, the group hit the road again and chronicled their reunion on the hit Bravo docuseries “Xscape: Still Kickin’ It.”

Tocha began singing in church as a child and has always been well known for her soulful range and vocal dexterity. In addition to singing, Tocha has a passion for health and wellness. In 2018, she became a staunch vegan and launched her brand Made Girl, a healthy lifestyle company. She released her first cookbook in 2020, “LaTocha’s Planted Lifestyle,” and created a fitness line of premium athleisure-wear. Her philanthropic endeavor, Made Girl Foundation, serves to build creativity in young women through teaching arts and music. LaTocha also formed record label Made Girl Music in partnership with Motown/Capitol Records. She is married to husband Rocky Bivens and they have a son, Jamon.

Tamara “Taj” George
Though her talents expand far beyond singing, Tamara “Taj” Johnson-George is best known as one-third of legendary R&B trio SWV (Sisters With Voices), recognized by Billboard as one of the Top 40 female girl groups of all time. Hailing from New York, Taj came together with Cheryl “Coko” Gamble and Leanne “Lelee” Lyons in the late ’80s and quickly rose to fame in 1992 with their hit R&B album “It’s About Time.” The acclaimed debut album sold 3 million copies and earned 11 Billboard Music Award nominations as well as nominations for a Grammy, American Music Award, Source Award, Children’s Choice Award and BET Best of Video Soul Award.

When SWV disbanded from 1998-05, Taj kept busy. She signed a modeling contract with Ford Modeling Agency, received her BA from Belmont University and married NFL star running back Eddie George. Taj and Eddie share son Eriq, and Taj is stepmom to Jaire. In 2009, Taj competed in the 18th season of “Survivor.” Despite the rigorous schedule of being a touring artist and a mom, Taj is currently pursuing a law degree.

Tameka “Tiny” Harris
Tiny Harris has been in the spotlight since she was a young girl modeling and working in commercials. For decades she has been serenading fans with her piercing high notes as one-fourth of the prolific R&B quartet Xscape. Tiny joined Xscape with high school friends Kandi Burruss Tucker, LaTocha Scott and Tamika Scott in 1993 as they exploded onto the Atlanta scene. Their meteoric rise yielded six consecutive top 10 hits and three platinum albums. Xscape disbanded in 1999 but came back together in 2017 to perform at the BET Awards. After witnessing the fan fervor for Xscape in 2017, the group hit the road again and chronicled their reunion on the hit Bravo docuseries “Xscape: Still Kickin’ It.”

Also a prolific songwriter, Tiny co-penned TLC’s smash hit “No Scrubs” along with bandmate Kandi Burris. Tiny is well-known for being the ride-or-die better half to rapper TI and mother to their seven children. Tiny displayed her ability to cultivate artists when she created girl group OMG Girls to showcase her daughter Zonnique’s talent. She still manages Zonnique’s solo career today. The Harris family music legacy doesn’t end there as Tiny’s son King has recently thrown his hat into the rap ring while youngest daughter Heiress is a star in the making.

Leanne “Lelee” Lyons
At an early age, Leanne “Lelee” Lyons founded legendary R&B trio SWV (Sisters With Voices), recognized by Billboard as one of the Top 40 female girl groups of all time. Hailing from New York, Lelee came together with Cheryl “Coko” Gamble and Tamara “Taj” Johnson in the late ’80s and quickly rose to fame in 1992 with their hit R&B album “It’s About Time.” The acclaimed debut album sold 3 million copies and earned 11 Billboard Music Award nominations as well as nominations for a Grammy, American Music Award, Source Award, Children’s Choice Award and BET Best of Video Soul Award. By the time she was 17, she had birthed a successful group and two children – daughter Margaret and son Khiry.

Lelee and her children went through a lot over the years after SWV disbanded, but Lelee put her life together again and today is focused on the success of the group as well as expanding her personal brand. She authored a memoir, “I Regret the Day I Lost My Virginity: You Are Not Your Past.” Lelee is currently connecting with, and communicating, her authentic self with her upcoming audiobook, “The Adventures of Sister Hot Pussy,” which is a testament to her sense of sexual liberation, self-love and female empowerment.

Tamika Scott
One-fourth of the prolific R&B quartet Xscape, natural-born performer Tamika Scott has been dazzling audiences with her powerhouse vocals and charming personality. Tamika formed Xscape with her sister, LaTosha Scott, and high school friends Tameka “Tiny” Harris and Kandi Burruss Tucker in 1993 as they exploded onto the Atlanta scene. Their meteoric rise yielded six consecutive top 10 hits and three platinum albums. Xscape disbanded in 1999 but came back together in 2017 to perform at the BET Awards. After witnessing the fan fervor for Xscape in 2017, the group hit the road again and chronicled their reunion on the hit Bravo docuseries “Xscape: Still Kickin’ It.”

Tamika has starred in numerous Tyler Perry stage plays and appeared in the 2009 film “There’s a Stranger in My House.” Also known for her culinary prowess, Tamika released a cookbook in 2022, “Table Set: Cooking With Tamika Scott,” accompanied by her own line of cooking spices. Tamika is head over heels for husband Darnell and is a devoted mom to their three daughters – O’Shun, Niyah and Princess. She is also “momager” to daughter Niyah, who is an aspiring rapper.
