Apple TV+ has launched the highly-anticipated drama “Swagger,” with the first three episodes available now! Followed by one new episode weekly, every Friday, exclusively on Apple TV+.
Inspired by NBA superstar Kevin Durant’s experiences, “Swagger” explores the world of youth basketball, and the players, their families and coaches who walk the fine line between dreams and ambition, and opportunism and corruption. Off the court, the show reveals what it’s like to grow up in America.
The ten-episode first season will premiere on Apple TV+ on October 29th with the first three episodes, followed by one new episode weekly every Friday thereafter through December 17, 2021.
The series is led by an ensemble cast including O’Shea Jackson Jr. Academy Award nominee Quvenzhané Wallis, Shinelle Azoroh, Tessa Ferrer, Caleel Harris, James Bingham, Solomon Irama, Ozie Nzeribe, Tristan Mack Wilds and introduces Isaiah Hill as 14-year-old basketball prodigy Jace Carson.
“Swagger” is created by Bythewood, who also writes, directs and serves as showrunner and executive producer alongside Durant and Grazer. The series is produced for Apple by Thirty Five Ventures, Imagine Television Studios, CBS Studios and Undisputed Cinema. Also serving as executive producers are Rich Kleiman, Samie Kim Falvey, Francie Calfo and Samantha Corbin-Miller.
Check out the UB Preview: The clip is from the premiere episode, “NBA,” where all eyes are on Jace, a 14-year-old basketball phenom in the DMV (DC, Maryland, Virginia), who joins a team coached by Ike, a former rising star. In episode two, “Haterade,” Ike merges with another basketball program to form a powerhouse team, while a determined Jace struggles to regain his #1 ranking and in episode three “Mano a Mano,” Jace competes with Nick to claim the top spot in the DMV, as Ike confronts his past.
