Brandy Excited and Nervous About New Music | ‘Baby Mama’ Drops Friday
One of our favorites Brandy is set to make her official comeback this week. Her new single “Baby Mama” is a collaboration with Chance the Rapper.
Produced by Hit-Boy, the single and visual will be released Friday May 1st, 2020.
The song has a message that Brandy wanted to bring to the forefront. Speaking with the “Laura Coates Show,” Brandy said of the song; “It’s celebrating mothers out there who are out there doing their best for their children and striving in their independence, in their strength, in their power. I just wanted to come out with a powerful message like that.”
“I’ve dedicated the last couple years of my life to my new music, my new project. It’s taken me a while, but I’m so happy about the focus and the work ethic that I’ve put into this project. I’m really proud of it and I finally feel ready to present it to the world.”
To celebrate the pre-release, Brandy got on her first IG Live (by mistake) with Silentbx from TrueExclusives.
While chatting she dished on the new music. Brandy says the difference with this album and her previous ones, is she co-wrote on every song on the album. The new album will be Brandy‘s first since 2012’s “Two Eleven.”
One of the main reasons why she says she’s so nervous about the new music, is because it’s been so long since she’s released her last album.
As for what she’s been up to since the quarantine, she says she’s been mixing the album and cooking, hanging with the family and sneaked on a court to play tennis with Sy’rai.
Which who recently put out her first single, an Aaliyah cover “At Your Best.“ Brandy said “I’m so proud of her for putting out the single.” Brandy went on to say “She sounds like herself, but has a little of her mama in her. She’s taking it serious and her music is so good. Music is everything to her, to see someone her age appreciate music the way she does is great. I haven’t really worked with her yet, I want to vocal produce her.”
As for COVID-19, Brandy echos what Kellita Smith told us recently in saying, after this is all over, she thinks things will be better.
“We’ve never been through anything like this, so that makes me a little fearful. But I believe there is a God looking over us, that will pull us through.”
FYI, another one of our favorites Ro James just confirmed to UB his duet “Plan B” featuring Brandy will be released on May 14th.
