The summer heat is a still a blazin, but winter is right around the corner.
UB has exclusively learned that one of R&B‘s kings Ne-Yo, is prepping for his first Christmas album release.
The album is tentatively scheduled for release on October 11th, via Capitol Music Group.
The album will feature new, original Christmas songs and classic covers delivered with his familiar sound and wrapped in contemporary production.
His rendition of the classic, “This Christmas,” brings to mind the great Donny Hathaway but Ne-Yo makes it all his own, and on the original “Just Ain’t Christmas” he combines nostalgic lyrics with a powerful hook and pulsing groove, which could possibly make this the Christmas album of the year.
Ne-Yo spoke to Billboard.com last December about what Christmas songs he would remix;
“This Christmas” is a given. That’s a classic. So definitely that one. “Silent Night,” but it would have to be The Temptations version. I would take their version and spruce it up. Third one? Good question. I love “Noel.” I feel like I can do something with that and make that an R&B Christmas if I wanted.
Ne-Yo has has already released the Christmas singles; “I Want To Come Home For Christmas” from “The Best Man Holiday” and “The Christmas Song” with Tasha Cobs, for Motown’s Christmas album.
This will be Ne-Yo‘s first album release since 2018‘s “Good Man.”
