47 Ronin
Universal

47 Ronin is Hollywood’s adaption of an ancient real-life Japanese legend. Keanu Reeves reprises his action-hero role (previously seen in films like The Matrix), and plays lead character Kai.

When Lord Asano (Min Tanaka) welcomes Shogun Tsunayoshi (Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa) to his home, it should be a celebratory event. However, things take a wrong turn when Lord Kira (Tadanobu Asano) and his evil witch (Rinko Kikuchi) concoct a plan to frame Lord Asano and shame his Samurai honor.

Involved in the plot to take down Lord Asano are Oishi (Hiroyuki Sanada), Asano’s daughter Mika (Ko Shibasaki) and a half-breed servant named Kai (Keanu Reeves), whose mysterious past could be the key to helping Oishi and his army of 47 disgraced samurai storm Lord Kira’s stronghold, defeat the evil forces therein, and avenge the treachery against Lord Asano. I’ll leave the synopsis here so not to give away the rest of the story.

47 Ronin delivers with its spectacular special effects, GREAT CGI and thrilling action sequences. Keanu Reeves delivers in the film, which is based on a real event that took place in Japan during the 18th century. Moviegoers will enjoy this roller coaster ride from the beginning through end.
