Meet-N-Greet: Epic Records Presents…Sebastian Mikael
Slip-N-Slide/Vested In Culture/Epic Records emerging pop star Sebastian Mikael is gearing up for his hotly anticipated debut studio album, due out in 2013. The classically trained 24-year-old singer-songwriter-musician is currently putting the finishing touches on the release, working with an A-list roster of songwriters and producers, including Jim Jonsin and Rico Love. The yet-to-be titled release will showcase the full scope of Sebastian’s adept musicianship and songwriting craftsmanship.
To kick things off, Sebastian Mikael has not only been named the official face of Jackthreads’ fall 2012 Goodale collection, but he’s also teamed up with Blackbook for the exclusive premiere of his intimate acoustic video for “Speechless.”
Sebastian’s breakthrough video single, “Beautiful Life,” captures the essence of his music as a whole. “My lyrical content is not always about love, but what we go through and feel in life,” he explains. “I like to put hope in my music—stuff that makes you feel good musically and lyrically.”
Born in Sweden to a Swedish father and Ethiopian mother, Sebastian Mikael grew up in a diverse household immersed in music, fashion and art. In 2008, he moved from Sweden to Los Angeles to attend the Musicians Institute before continuing his studies at Boston’s prestigious Berklee School of Music. While a student at Berklee, he was signed by Slip-N-Slide Records CEO Ted Lucas and in late 2011 he released his first mixtape, J’Adore, which received rave reviews from his steadily growing fan base. Months later, his “Beautiful Life” video caught the ear of renowned industry executive Sylvia Rhone, who swiftly partnered with Slip-N-Slide to sign him to Vested in Culture, her new label with Epic Records.
Sebastian Mikael just wrapped playing select dates on Cris Cab’s The Rising Tour and can now be seen in the lookbook for members-only online shopping club Jackthreads’ fall 2012 Goodale collection.
