UB Spotlight: ‘New Edition Legacy Tour’ Shows Up + Out In Nashville

The Once in a Lifetime Concert Was Simply, Fireworks!

R&B’s most anticipated concert of the year, the “New Edition: Legacy Tour,” lit the stage on fire at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, last night April 16th — immediately following New Edition’s exhibit opening and honor ceremony at The National Museum of African American Music.

UB writer Jennifer Dunyon and photog Matt Leddo, take you through the magical night of celebrating legends!

With heart-pounding, energetic performances and soulful throwbacks, the Legacy Tour delivered far beyond expectations.

Earlier in the evening, the audience had the chance to musically connect with fan favorites, starting with R&B heartthrob, Tank.

It’s debatable what went over more enthusiastically; the piercing response of the ladies swooning over his shirtless display of well-toned abs, or his heart-wrenching rendition of “I Can’t Make You Love Me.

The legendary Keith Sweat made sure “Nobody” got it “Twisted,” that he can still hold an arena full of ladies absolutely captive on stage.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a Legacy Tour without chart-toppers, Guy, featuring Teddy Riley, Aaron Hall and Damion Hall. Following Aaron’s usual bare-chested antics in the middle of the crowd, Guy brought the audience softly back down to Earth with a silky rendition of the hit song, “Let’s Chill.

The evening came to a climax when New Edition ignited pandemonium by rising above the stage from hidden platforms lifting them into perfectly aligned spotlights.

The hyped-up grown and sexy crowd sang their hearts out to back-to-back hits such as “Candy Girl,” “Cool It Now,” “If It Isn’t Love,” “Can You Stand the Rain,” “Mr. Telephone Man” and “Every Little Step.”

In an especially poignant moment, Bobby Brown surprised the audience by rejoining the festivities despite recent reports that he’d withdrawn from the tour…and didn’t miss a single beat, as if he’d never left.

The night was topped off (again) with a bonus breakout performance by Bell Biv DeVoe!

You haven’t really lived until you’ve witnessed this lineup of original living legends perform together in person.

Thousands of concert-goers in Nashville received that chance to truly live at the unforgettable experience that was the “New Edition: Legacy Tour” by Black Promoters Collective.

The once-in-a-lifetime Nashville concert was simply, FIREWORKS!
