Stereo Sound Escape is an EP that plays out like a movie soundtrack. Each song on Malachi’s debut transcends the listener to a place where they can visualize each track. From the EP’s first funky cut “P.I.M.P.,” (where you can imagine yourself in a drop top Cadillac cruising the strip) to the heartfelt story of unrequited love on the lead single “Where I’ll Be,” listeners are taken on a soulful journey.
Malachi Rivers, along with his producer Brandon A. Durette, have crafted an organic Hip Hop musical experience, not always perfect but still…oh so right! Soulful rhythms are coupled with thoughtful sincere lyrics, and Malachi’s special resonating voice. Off to a great start already, Malachi‘s performance (on Marcus Strickland’s Open Reel Deck) has been praised by NPR, Village Voice, and the JazzTimes just to name a few.
Working with such ground breaking talent such as Grammy Award winning rapper Cee-Knowledge (aka Doodlebug of the legendary Hip Hop group Digable Planets), TV star and film actor Nelsan Ellis (True Blood, The Help), Spoken Word star J Ivy (Kanye West, Jay-Z, John Legend), and many other talented musicians and artists; you can understand why Malachi’s debut EP Stereo Sound Escape embodies an engaging musical artistic experience. The self coined “Musical Poet with a Broadway Troop,” sets out to cross borders and not just the music charts.
“I just love creating and feel blessed to be able to do that. I may not fit into the mold of what is popular right now but I have to be sincere with my gift. My music, my words, and my energy are everything and as Cee-lo said, ‘I can be a good you but it won’t compare to a great me,’” says Malachi.
In addition to sharing his music to the world, Malachi is also releasing Stereo Sound Escape through his own music company JayPey Music, LLC. Come take this journey with one of music’s independent soldiers.
