Black Music Month Rare Music Spotlight: Tisha Cambell (1993)

Known to millions as Gina from the hit 90’s sitcom Martin and numerous other TV & Film roles, Tisha Cambell is also an accomplished singer & dancer. Having appeared on the soundtracks to two films she stared in, Little Shop of Horrors & School Daze. In 1993 Tisha released her debut album “Tisha” via Capitol Records. Lead by the single “Push,” which did somewhat good on the charts and received mild video airplay.

The follow-up single from the album “Love Me Down” the Vassal Benford track didn’t perform as well as “Push.” Although the album failed to chart on the Billboard Charts outside of the Heatseekers. As slept on as it was it did feature some great tracks including; “Love’s Got a Hold on Me,” “Broken Hearted,” “If This is Love” and “All Good Things (Come in Time).”

In 1997 Tisha starred in the film “Sprung” and appeared on the soundtrack with her Martin co-star Tichina Arnold on a remake of “Don’t Ask My Neighbor.” That’s the last recording Tisha has released.
