Betty Wright to Release First Album In Over 10 Years With The Roots

Betty Wright and The Roots have recorded an album that S-Curve Records will release on November 15th! The album is produced by ?uestlove and Betty Wright and features appearances by Lil Wayne, Snoop Dogg, Joss Stone and more!

Betty who’s a 14 time Grammy nominee as a writer, artist and producer, including a Grammy win for Best R&B Song for “Where is The Love.” She’s been an R&B trialblazer for over 40 years! She released her first hit, “Girls Can’t Do What Guys Do” at the age of 14 and recorded her million-selling signature song “Clean Up Woman” at the age of 18. She was the first female artist to achieve gold sales via her own label, Ms B Records. Betty has collaborated with everyone from Stevie Wonder to Alice Cooper and toured with Bob Marley. Since her last hit single “No Pain, No Gain,” she has done vocal production for the likes of Gloria Estefan, Jennifer Lopez and Joss Stone and served as a vocal coach on MTV’s Making The Band with P. Diddy and continues to mentor new talent til this day!

This album marks Betty Wright’s first full-length album in over 10 years! After several contributions and collaborations behind the scenes on projects with other artists, this album puts the spotlight back on Ms. Wright! Her recent single “Go! (live)” was nominated in the Traditinal R&B Vocal category at the 2011 Grammy Awards. This garnered the opportunity for her to perform with Cyndi Lauper, Mavis Staples and Maria Muldaur at the Grammy Pre-Telecast as well as with The Roots at their Grammy Jam Session and on NBC’s Late Night with Jimmy Falon.
