Jussie Smollett is a study in contradictions. Confident yet humble, socially aware yet funny, shy yet sexy as hell. Described as a ‘quiet storm’, Smollett has been building up steam, becoming a force to be reckoned with. Coming from a family of entertainers, Jussie has been studying the business of show since the age of four. As 1/6 of the ultra-talented Smollett siblings, he is best known for his acting.
In February 2012 Jussie can be seen in the ballsy lead role of Magnus in Patrik-Ian Polk’s “The Skinny”. The tale of five college friends who reunite in NYC for a weekend of sex, sin and self examination. From playing opposite Halle Berry and Danny Glover in Queen and his roles in Disney’s The Mighty Ducks and Rob Reiner’s North to starring alongside his siblings in the ABC sitcom, On Our Own, Smollett is no stranger to the industry. Once in high school, he realized that although still in love with acting, there was nothing he wanted more than music. He continued to write songs and put them away. It wasn’t until he traveled to Switzerland to work with Swiss Hip Hop star Bligg and Pop star Emel that he started pulling from his experiences and writings to create his sound.
Now in his 20’s, Jussie Smollett is gearing up for the release of his EP, The Poisoned Hearts Club. Produced by L.A. based producer Rene Bowers of NewTrenz Ent., the music boasts a mix of pop and soul over alternative and hip hop beats, Smollett is being described as an urban Adam Levine meets George Michael brewed in a cup of MJ. With his smooth, buttery voice, storyteller lyrics and undeniable stage presence, Smollett sets the tone for what is sure to be a journey worth watching. Stay tuned…
