Jim Jones Preps New Album & New VH1 Series

Dipset co-founder Jim Jones is set to release his fifth official studio album titled CAPO on Tuesday, April 5th, 2011. The new album is the follow-up to Pray IV Reign and is set to feature appearances from Raekwon, Snoop Dogg, Roscoe Dash, Cam’ron, Juelz Santana Vado and Rell.

Jones spent the past few months recording and carefully re-fining material for his new record, amassing some 60 new songs in the process. The tracks are now being narrowed down to comprise the core of the forthcoming new album.

Jones previously released “Blow Your Smoke” feat Rell, which received heavy airplay in New York. The video is currently one of the Top 3 most played videos on MTV2 where it’s also charting on the Sucka Free Countdown and was MTV Jams “Jam of the Week”.

Jones is also set to take part in a new VH1 8-part docu-soap series entitled “Love & Hip Hop,” which premieres on March 14th, 2011. The new show features Jones and his longtime girlfriend Chrissy Lampkin and follows four dynamic women who are connected to the world of hip hop, whether it’s through the men they love, or their struggle to be heard as an artist. The show provides a dramatic, funny and sometimes heartbreaking look into the female side of the New York hip hop life as these four women try to claim their own place in it.

Also, Fuse continues its longstanding creative partnership with hip hop mogul Jim Jones by launching “Jim Jones TV,” a six month slate of programming on the music channel’s Fuse On Demand service. From February to July, catch up with Jim as he gives free cab rides to unsuspecting New Yorkers, hangs out one on one with NY Knicks star Wilson Chandler, introduces handpicked playlists of his favorite music videos, puts fans through his own “Splash” shopping challenge, teaches high school students about the music business, and addresses diverse topics such as health care, public transportation, social networking, and music marketing.

Over the past few years, Jim Jones has transformed himself from a behind-the-scenes rap presence into a hip-hop superstar. As the co-founder of one of the greatest New York street movements ever, Jones positioned himself as a new breed of hip-hop entrepreneur who not only understood the business of music, but also everything that comes with it. From making huge hit records, to keeping his music firmly on the block, Jim released 4 album projects on Entertainment One Music (formerly KOCH Records) that each grew in status release-after-release, culminating in a huge culture changing smash with “We Fly High”. Now firmly back in the eOne Music family, Jim Jones is re-focused and hungrier than ever and making some of the most exciting street/ commercial music of his career. He’s also transformed himself into a Social Networking juggernaut with over 1.2 million Twitter followers.

Not only is Jones an award-winning music video director, an entrepreneur, and businessman, but he is also a philanthropist. He continues his involvement in Music Business 101, a high school class Jones helms in which he provides a real life perspective of the music industry. In seeking to further educate young people who look up to him as a community leader who truly understands the challenges young people face day-to-day in the inner city, Jones has dedicated himself to educating youth about politics and empowering them to use their influence to reach their highest potential

Jim Jones can currently be seen in the Converse Star Chevron TV spot, “The Procession” which was directed by Antoine Fuqua. The spot stars Jim Jones, basketball legend Julius “Dr. J” Erving; Carlos Arroyo of the Miami Heat; musician Doug E Fresh; legendary ball-handler God Shammgod; Harlem streetball player Adrian “A-Butta” Walton; and the Converse Skate Team – Kenny Anderson, Sammy Baca, Rune Glifberg and Eli Reed.
