After taking a two-year long hiatus, Marques Houston will release his fourth solo effort, “Mr. Houston” (Musicworks Entertainment), on September 29, 2009. The first single “Body” (Musicworks Entertainment).
Houston describes the latest album as more mature and having more personal lyrical content. “I wanted to do things my way this time and just venture out there as an artist and explore musically what I felt like I wanted to do at this time in my life… I feel like I’ve covered every angle, as far as musically, and this one is just a natural growth for me,” he said when asked about the content of “Mr. Houston.” Listeners will be able to hear a more humble, attentive voice on songs like “Sexy Young Girl,” a song inspired by his current relationship. Marques Houston penned and produced all songs on the album. On this album, he is working with a new production team that includes music producer Detail, (known for his work with Akon, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera), Jay Bynum, and Alex Cantrell.
Always thinking of innovative methods to entertain his fans, Marques plans to make history by releasing a music video for each song on the album — 12 total, all timed to the album’s release. The multi-million dollar marketing campaign will offer an exclusive DVD retail package that will be available for sale in stores Christmas 2009.
In his twenty year long career, Marques has released four chart topping solo albums, starred in five major motion pictures, and two network sitcoms. He has added to his resume by starring as a leading man in a modern day West Side Story dance movie called “Boogie Town.” The movie also stars Brenda Song, Vanessa Simmons, and choreographed by Shane Sparks (judge from MTV’s “America’s Best Dance Crew”).
